What does it mean to JourneyFully?

When a person decides to JourneyFully, this can look a bit different in each setting and context. However, the underlying principle is the same:

To JourneyFully is to journey to the fullest.

Okay, so that’s your classic circular reasoning that doesn’t actually define anything. So, to break this down a little bit more:

If you journey somewhere, you travel there. Synonyms include travel, go, move (Collins Dictionary)

Fully means to the greatest degree or extent possible. Synonyms include completely, totally, entirely (also Collins Dictionary)

The idea of journeying fully sounds great but still may be a bit unclear. So, to clarify what exactly this involves, we’ve set out nine A2B goals below.

To JourneyFully is to journey to the fullest extent possible, in each of the following ways:

  1. JourneySafely

  2. JourneyHealthily (it’s the correct spelling, we checked!)

  3. JourneyCalmly

  4. JourneyProductively

  5. JourneyThriftily

  6. JourneyFriendly

  7. JourneyConfidently

  8. JourneySustainably

  9. JourneyJoyfully

Who wouldn’t want to get from A to B in the safest possible way? Who wouldn’t want more money back in their wallet after switching transport modes for just one journey per week? Who wouldn’t want to recapture valuable time to spend on the things they actually want to spend time on?

These are some big, high-level claims we’re making. JourneyFully HUB platforms aim to provide more detailed information on all of these ideas. But for now, to help clarify things, we’ve outlined one simple example per A2B goal:

  1. JourneySafely - 42,939 people were killed in car crashes in the US in 2021 - this is greater than the population of State College, Pennsylvania. A person can reduce his or her chance of being in an accident by more than 90 percent simply by taking public transit opposed to commuting by car.

  2. JourneyHealthily - “[D]riving 10 or more miles a day takes a severe toll on your body — mentally and physically”

  3. JourneyCalmly - Aggressive driving is a leading cause of death for young children. Stressful, tense commutes may even make domestic abusers more violent.

  4. JourneyProductively - While taking transit, you can safely catch up on tasks like emails. Sitting in car traffic costs you - just one person - an average of $1,348 per year.

  5. JourneyThriftily - the "average person" in 16 of 20 large US cities would save over $10,000 a year by using public transit instead of driving.

  6. JourneyFriendly - “Driving brings out my best self” - said no one ever. Driving tends to bring out the worst in us (like road rage). We tend to “thingify” cars rather than recognizing that other drivers are real people.

  7. JourneyConfidently - Exercise itself boosts self esteem, but so does the empowerment of learning how to navigate a city (through cycling, for instance).

  8. JourneySustainably - The United States is the biggest producer of transportation emissions worldwide, having emitted the equivalent of 1.67 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (GtCO₂e) in 2021. This was more than the combined transportation emissions in China, India, and Russia

  9. JourneyJoyfully - Commutes are a significant factor in happiness and wellbeing, and a car commute is the least likely to be a happy commute.
